Mondello park 25/5/08, was a good place to test the little 400
honda. It was my first time on a bike all year and I was really looking forward to it. I
did the Saturday practice but only did the morning sessions as the last time I did a
full practice day, I ended up stiff for race day. I was happy enough with the bike but
it did have a few issues, namely a very soft rear shock resulting in poor ground
clearance among other things. It also was geared wrong. I reckon about 6 teeth off
but I didn't have a longer chain or any sprockets to correct this.
Sunday qualifing came and went without a problem. I was content
with everything giving the bikes obvious shortcomings. Still I managed a
respectable 14th on the grid. So I looked forward to the race and the weather was
good. I started the bike and went to the warm up area, then as I was about to leave
pit lane, she started running on 2 cylinders and died. I didn't even get the warm up
lap. I went back to the pits and tried absolutley everything but could not get it to run
right. I gave up after about 2 hours of trying different things and loaded it up back
into the van. A bit dissapointing after all the effort put into getting the bike ready for
racing. Hopefully I can find the gremlins and get it fixed soon.
