I was entered in the pre97 class as there was no SS400
class. Bit tough against the 600's but some fun.
Practice was short and uneventful. Got a half decent run,
2nd group. Steve from NDM was out on a 400 Kawasaki.
He qualified 8th in his group, but I had half a second on
him. He was starting directly behind me on the grid.
(#192 green bike in the video below)
I got a good start for a 400 and was running well from the
start.I passed a few and was in a group of about 10 riders.
It was fast , furious and fun. Very close racing indeed. The
race got red flagged on the 5th lap. The restart was ok
for me but that only lasted about a lap and a half. There
was a pile up in the esses (also on video). We were sent into the paddock 4 lunch. When
we got back to the grid i was ready to do it all again. This time I bogged the bike off the
line and was nearly last into the first corner. I was making up places fast when a bike went
down coming out of the dogleg. I narrowly avoided him but hit another bike putting me onto
the grass. This unsettled me and I had to do the hard work again. Steve got away ahead
of me before my incident, so I really had no chance of catching him. I finished 17th, had
fun and got back to the paddock in one piece.

That was the first part of the race, part 2 below.

The rain came just before race 2 and I only just made the start of the race. I missed the
warm up lap so I had to start from pit lane. It was very slippy, there was oil dropped earlier
in the day.
I caught up to a few bikes and then I was behind Steve from NDM. I got by him on the 7th
lap and I could beat him to the line , but he got past me on the brakes. I didn't get by him
again. I think if i tried to get by him again neither of us would have finished and it wasn't
worth that, so he beat me.
That was it for the weekend, quite enjoyable. Next one 4 me is Kirkistown in september.
